Safeguards

Panel 1: Outside of the bar, Tacitus waves goodbye to Taylor and Jillian. The sky is dark and full of stars, and the other businesses nearby are closed. “Goodnight, you two.”
Taylor: “‘Night!”
Jillian: “Goodnight!”
Panel 2: Taylor and Jillian walk together down a dark sidewalk. Taylor, with his hoodie zipped closed now, looks thoughtfully towards Jillian and asks: “So... what would've happened if I'd been cremated?”
Jillian: “Hm?” Oh, you wouldn't have been. It's… complicated, but there are safeguards for that.”
Panel 3: Taylor: “I’ve been wondering about that, cause like… my family's not religious. I'm pretty sure my mom wants to be cremated, so it's kinda weird that I wasn't.”
Panel 4: Jillian: “Whoever made that decision picked the option that was least likely to harm you. Whoever prepared your body did the same thing.”
Panel 5: Jillian: “We've been doing this a long time now. When science or medicine moves forward we adapt. It's the only way to survive.”
Panel 6: Taylor: “It was probably a lot easier in the past, huh?”
Jillian, exasperated: “So much easier.”
