Panel 1: Darrell sits at the bar with his cider. Off panel, someone calls out: “Hey!”
Panel 2: Nearby, leaning against the railing separating the bar section from the rest of the restaurant, is Leah, the girl he met here previously. She’s wearing a short sleeved grey v-neck shirt with a simplistic moth design on the front in the style of a death’s head hawkmoth. With a big smile she says: “Drummer!”
Panel 3: Darrell smiles back from his seat. “Oh, hey!”
Leah: “Remember me?”
Darrell: “Yeah, your brother’s band.”
Panel 4: Leah: “They’re called SABEL. Anyway, you wanna meet him? I was just telling him you’d probably be here soon.”
Panel 5: Darrell looks surprised. “Oh!”
Panel 6: He recovers and grins. “Yeah! Hell yeah.”
Panel 7: The two begin walking away from the bar together, passing an empty table with a framed photo of a simple tree silhouette on the wall above it. Darrell, carrying his cider, says: “Now, hang on, there’s no way that you just knew I was going to be here tonight. I gotta call bullshit on that.”
Leah gives him a sly smile: “Oh yeah?”
Panel 8: Leah begins counting on her fingers: “Your favorite band is Kataract. This is the only metal bar in Portland, and there’s a show tonight. I don’t gotta be Sherlock fuckin’ Holmes to figure out where your scene is at.”
