Staying

Panel 1: A shot of the garage-level bedroom. The floor is concrete and the walls brick, painted over in a neutral cream color. There’s a window on one wall and a door on another leading outside. The only furniture is a single bed with a simple metal frame and a bare mattress. Off panel Jillian asks: “What do you think? I have some bedding and pillows upstairs.”
Panel 2: Darrell and Jillian look in from a second door which appears to lead in from the garage, as the car can be seen behind them. Darrell looks around and comments: “This made you think of me, huh?”
Jillian looks very uncertain. “It… it was Taylor’s idea…”
Darrell: “I like it.”
Panel 3: Jillian, clearly relieved: “Oh… oh good! I’m glad.”
Panel 4: Darrell looks away from her and asks: “How’s he doing? Taylor?”
Panel 5: Jillian: “He’s handling everything surprisingly well.”
Darrell, removing the guitar from his back: “That’s good. I’ll take him out hunting tomorrow.”
Panel 6: Jillian, tentatively: “You’re staying then?”
Darrell looks away again, annoyed: “Where else am I gonna go? We still have a deal, anyway.”
Jillian: “Fair point.”
Panel 7: Jillian starts to leave, but glances back. “I know it doesn’t seem that way right now, but things will get better. Try to get some sleep tonight.”
Panel 8: Alone and still looking annoyed, Darrell takes a drink from his McDonald’s cup.
