Panel 1: Taylor and Darrell are back on the sidewalk, each holding a Slurpee. Taylor has a paper bag in one arm, a roll of paper towels poking out the top. Taylor looks to Darrell and asks: “So is Wilkes a Filipino name?”

Darrell: “No, my dad’s white.”

Panel 2: Very reluctantly Darrell asks: “...what about you? Did you have much family?”

Panel 3: Taylor, thinking: “Oh, yeah I have--er, I guess I had--my mom who lived nearby. My dad’s out of state. I hadn’t seen him for a while…”

Panel 4: Taylor looks down, smiling a bit sadly as he continues: “...it’s funny, the tie they put on me was one he gave me.”

Panel 5: Taylor’s smile vanishes as he looks away. “I wonder if he came. Y’know, to my funeral.”

Panel 6: Darrell: “It was Doctor Who, right? Your tie?”

Taylor instantly brightens: “Yeah! Do you watch?”

Darrell: “No, I just see it on Tumblr.”

Panel 7: Taylor begins a big ramble that covers the majority of the page, some of the words disappearing outside of the panel border: “Oh it’s great! I mean, it wasn’t for a while, but there’s a new writer now and a new Doctor who’s a woman for the first time ever and she’s awesome. They do a soft reboot though every time the writer changes so you could just pick it up now and not need to watch anything else, though the first couple of Doctors in the new series were also really great. The third one was okay for a while but then the writing got kinda crappy because Steven Moffat has no idea how to run a show, so…”

Darrell, with a small smile: “I’m starting to get an idea of what your interests are.”
