Panel 1: Taylor looks questioningly at Darrell: “You want us to call you something else? Like what?”

Darrell, looking away hesitantly: “What would you say if… if I told you…”

Panel 2: Darrell, still looking away: “...I’d rather be called Darrell?”

Panel 3: Darrell glances back over with an expression of mixed anxiety and hopefulness.

Panel 4: Taylor looks back, a bit surprised: “...oh.”

Panel 5: Taylor’s eyes widen as realization dawns on him. “Ohhh.”

Panel 6: Taylor glances away with a somewhat sheepish smile: “Okay, wow, that makes a lot of things make sense.”

Panel 7: Taylor looks back at Darrell, his smile brighter: “Also, Darrell is a very good name, and if that’s what you want to go by then I’m happy to call you that.”

Darrell hesitantly smiles back: “Yeah?”

Taylor: “Yeah. Absolutely.”

Panel 8: Taylor pulls out his phone as he asks: “Um, are there pronouns you’d prefer?”

Darrell: “Yeah, uh, he/him is good.”

Taylor: “Got it. And just in case the weed and absinthe wipe my memory, I’m adding a reminder for myself tomorrow.”
